Got this EK casting from Siberia Miniatures. Nice details suitable for painting and an unusual subject. As there is no uniformity, I can take some liberty with colours.

This is indeed a nice piece. I have it at the center of my Cossack display (bought those in Moscow in 2002).

Hi Grognard,

I agree that the sculpting on this piece is first rate. I am still apprehensive about painting some designs on the cloak.

Finally taking a deep breath and embarking on painting the cloak. I opted for a simple floral design and let's see where this takes us.

Added some "orange" to the red dots. Then painted gold to the ornaments and purple to the inner cloak.

I added blue on gold stripes to the cloak lining. Added yellow braiding.

Painted more details here and there. added shading. Taking my time with this piece.

I created a simple steppe type base for this figure. You can see the cut edges of this type of landscape. The material was epoxied onto the wooden base.

The metal base was carefully snipped away from around the boots. Holes were drilled for wire inserts and the figure was snugly fitted onto its new base.

I puttied the edges of the base to create some groundwork. The figure was given a wash of burnt umber and highlights were created. A polish greyhound was added to balance the composition and final touchups will be made when the paint is dried.
