Has anyone heard of this company before?

The range as I can tell has just a few Napoleonic figures, some look like K&C and some like First Legion (well at least to me they do)

I've heard some good things about them. Shannon sells them.

Scott,
I saw then for the first time at the June London show. There will be photos of them in that show's photo thread. They are very good value for money. Painting was to a high level. I would say closer to FL in size, stature and paint style. Well worth getting a few if that era is of interest.
cheers
Simon

You have a good eye Scott, quite a few of my customers have compared them somewhat to First Legion, specifically the Napoleonic highlanders.

There are currently 4 British foot guards and 4 highlanders as well as two ACW figures, they just shipped me some WWII Germans, some Old Guard Grenadiers and a battle damaged building too.

So far they have been very well recieved at the shows.............so there you go.

When they first came onto the marked ealrier this year, I checked out the new website http://www.countryhonor.com

They looked OK, the poses were OK, but I was very disapointed in the painting of the Scots. The catalog states them as Black Watch, but the tartans on the 3 soldiers are Gordon, the officer has a light blue colour in the tartanm and the dicing on the bonnet had green instead of blue.

The British infantry appear OK, but the blue facing colour is too light, and there is a mixture of Stovepipe and Belgic Shakos. They have 3FG on the waterbottles, so Scots Guards?

But..... the new French are a whole lot better, and look fine to me. I especilly like the Sappeurs, and its great to see them in 'fighting pose' with black gaiters, and mud on thier aprons but the 3 firing Guards look like 'on parade' with white gaiters, so they don't mix in.

I contacted the company in HK earier this year with my assesment of the first batch, and it seems that they have strived to imrpove the accuracy of the unifomrs and the painting, so I sure hope they can go on even further, seeing that they are produce a very economical figures that looks OK whith other established makers.

I would like to see the lined up with K&C, First Legion, and such, but I'd welcome the latest ones into my Armee :) :)

I really like the guards, some of the highlanders and the sappers, even though they might not be the most accurate, they are cheap and very well sculpted.
My big question is- where did this company come from? Who are the founders, sculptors, and master painters? Are they break-offs from another maker? Are they disgruntled factory workers? Also, they don't write the best English- this this a native HK maker?

The lesson learned here is:

Don't copy from your toy soldier competitor, copy from from another source like everyone else does. Oops, did I say that.

The activity allegedly to have taken place could be considered unfair competition or misappropriation under the Lanham Act. Provided the complainant can show damages, among other damages, a court has discretion to award treble damages as punishment for the activity.

There is no evidence cited in that linked post. I have not seen any sculpts elsewhere that exactly match their Napoleonic releases. The trouble with making allegations like that is that they are very difficult to prove unless the copy is obvious. IF true, it is a pity of course and I am glad I managed to get a few.

I got an email in from Country Honor today, with an explanation about the withdrawl of some of thier figures.

Regarding the German soldiers, we had stopped selling the 4 German figures, because one of our sculptors just used a small backpack from first legion, and he did one of figure’s legs exactly accoding the First Legion. So we stopped selling the 4 german figures.

If you goto their website now, there are no WW2 figures listed, BUT some new NAPOLEONICs have arrived, and they are 4 x Napoleon's Dutch ancers, charging.

The sculpts are quite good, with action poses, and one figure weilding his sword, and the other arm in a sling, very different.

I have replied to Benny, that the blue on the uniform should be dark blue, not mid blue. Also gold trim was only used for officers, and as these are troopers, they should have a yellow colour for the epaulettes, chords around the hat, trim on the coats and the edging of the saddlecloth.

Hopefully he will take this advice and change his figures?

Future Napoleonic releases will be Young Guard, so lets hope the painters get it right, seeing that the sculptors do a good job, espacially with the Old Guard.

There are also 3 British Grenadiers c 1776 on the site, so check them out and lets hear your comments.

Very well done figures. I am glad they owned up to their violation (albeit not wholehearted, it was still genuine).
