The photo on Treefrogs upcoming releases page for Crimea set CRW07 shows the cannon with a brown carriage. The Russians always painted these green, as K&C has it is in the 1st artillery set. Is this just a mistake with the prototype, and will it be corrected on the upcoming releases? Thanks.

The DK book 'Battle' in the Crimean War section page 260 there is a field gun that looks like the second release - unpainted wood and unpainted brass barrel. It's neat because it also has wheels in the rear with a wooden box mounted on platform for supplies - Check the book out and let us know what you think.

Thanks.

Your right and wrong!!

Yes the Russians painted their gun carriage green.........and yes our picture in the first release is green.

However the guns in the charge were captured BRITISH guns so therefore would have been brass and wood. Both the guns that we supply are the brass and brown type. We changed after the prototype the coloour however the prototype was used for the box and website pics.

Tony, thanks for the response. I've never come across any sorce material refering to the battery of guns charged by the Light Brigade, those of the 6th Don Cossack H.A. being made up of captured British pieces. It's pretty ironic then that a lot of the destruction inflicted on the Light Brigade came from field pieces manufactured in England.
