This is probably a long shot...

Ok my friends I have come across a series of Austro-Hungarian Figures over here that were made/painted and sold to a shop by a gentleman from Croatia. He apparently makes them and comes to Germany at various times to sell them in bulk. I dont have any photos but will try and get some in the near future. They look similar to some of the Del Prado figures I have seen but are better castings. His work is high quality 60mm figures that appear to be solid castings he either makes of buys in bulk. They come in Mounted and Infantry standing at attention or marching. There are also some French Napoleonics mixed in with the Austrians.Do any of you have an idea who this person could be? How about a website where someone can get castings from the late Victorian Era for Austria?

I hope someone over here in Germany may have a clue about them.

Thanks for the help

Dave

Hi, Dave, are they named something like "Wiener Zinnfiguren" or something similar? I have some pics on my machine at home of some figures that I saw on eBay, and then researched them. I'll have to see if I can access them tonight (home machine is crippled), but I remember posting over on the HZ-Forum if anyone knew anything about them. They might be the same as the ones you're talking about.

Prost!

hmmm...there's gotta be a joke in there somewhere. {sm3}

Good Luck sir- looks like you're mission might take you to some unfriendly ground. Pack accordingly. Let me know if you need armor support, I'll roll the Abrams on over. {sm4}

All right, soldier, knock it off, at ease, at ease! :D Actually, it was "Vienna Metal Figures" "Wiener Metallfiguren". I found the thread I posted here in the forum:

I've got one of the pics in that thread, of a grenadier from a Hungarian regiment in the Seven Years War. I saw this and some others on eBay back in the fall, 2008, and put up the question for more info. These are ones I thought of, when I read Dave's original post. Are these the figures you meant?

Prost!

Hi Guys

The photo is close but the ones I saw today were better executed and the bases were different. I will try and get some photos from the store owner.
