The new Cromwell looks like it will be a winner....especially with the detachable gear.....Is there a unit number on this tank? opposite side perhaps ?.....Does anyone know if this tank was employed by the British army in the Africa campaign?; would it be historically appropriate to paint it in the desert yellow color ?......I would like to use it for an 8th army scene

The Cromwell was not introduced until 1943, as a replacement of the Crusader so it wouldn't have seen any service in Egypt/Libya. Not sure about Tunisia, however.

Cromwell production did not start until January 1943. The Afrika Korps which had retreated to Tunisia surrendered May 13, 1943. The operational history of the Cromwell shows its first combat use as the Centaur on D-Day. Not likely the Cromwell made it to North Africa and certainly not in a combat role.
