Sorry guys to have mislead you. The dio I made based on the photographs from the 17 dec 1944 should read "Crossroad at Honsfeld" I knew and I felt there was something wrong in my description . I looked it up in my collection of photographs and immediately saw my mistake . The pictures were taken at Honsfeld. To prove the above I added a picture of the Crossroad today . As you can see the through is still there.
I wanted to put this right

Those are German troopers by the trough in Honsfeld. One of them is tying his boots. It is well known that the Germans used to prefer the American boots, and I suspect this trooper is putting on boots from the dead American on the left. The road to Bullingen is on the right and Kampfgruppe Peiper came in from the left. The Germans ran over these Americans, crushing the bodies

Thanks Guy for share :)

Your absolutely correct blackcross, the German soldiers belonged to the 3th Fallschirmjäger Div. The poor dead US GI's were later ran over and crushed by the German tanks.
Nice photograph by the way. Did you visit the place ? It is certainly worth you while

I'm surprised to hear that the Germans prefered US boots which were badly designed for wet or cold conditions. Trenchfoot was endemic in the US Army especially at places like the Bulge. German boots were constructed differently with the leather breathing out to remove moisture. The leather on the American boots took moisture in and kept it there.
