Will the San Jacinto Flag be next?

Please, my great grand uncle painted a mural at the Harlem Courthouse in 1938 and it was covered up by the W Bush administration. Why? Because Lady Justice was bare breasted and it showed Egyptians at a slave market. The theme was about injustice being made right in American courts.

The backward direction we are taking right now saddens me terribly.

With out going "modern" in politics, it's sad that Robert E. Lee and Thomas Jackson didn't have any problem with it but a modern politician thinks his "base" does.

I agree about not going "modern" here but usually when a politician goes there it's because he generally does represent his base.

I don't know, let them vote on it and see what happens. If majority opinion says they support it then that's that. That's our country works and how The Ramones decided which songs to play next.

Yes, one of the down sides of democracy is the much feared "lowest common denominator problem. Of course the trouble with politics is the politicians and this slug exemplifies the "new think" or "poll think" that makes them what they are. I wonder if Sir Walter is spinning at this point.

I wonder what a shrink would make of this politicians aversion to a woman's beast - does he have mother issues ?:)

They're politicians - they are masters at bait and switch. "Look, I got rid of that pornographic flag but, surprise, you don't have Miranda rights anymore and we can hold you indefinitely" or, surprise, "I just helped loosen regulations to allow a coal mine to freely pollute your ground water".

Smoke and mirrors. I wonder what else he's doing which'll slip buy unnoticed while people debate this stupid thing.

Yes indeed, democracy made a wrong turn with politics became a profession. It may very well be a move to tighten regulations that have no provable benefit and result in hundreds or thousands of lost jobs.:(

The best term limits are elections. Too many voters are too busy, too distracted, and willfully misinformed.

I wonder if painters would have to got back and paint "pasties" on their Virginia Flags? It looks like most flags they had were hand painted according to the taste of the artist..

This early version has a breast plate..

It looks the variations of the state seal are covered! I could be mistaken about heritage at least.

Anatomically correct armor?

......
Then for the reasons you note they are also the worse term limits. Political service should be like the old draft; ideally anyone with an "agenda" should be bared but verification is problematic.

Nice collection of flags and seals though.;)

People are rightfully angry. Sadly, when that happens the walls go up, the old ignorances rear their ugly heads, competition for dwindling resources (in this case money) swells. All this while the rights and freedoms so many have fought so hard for throughout our history are willingly eroded away by corrupting the original intent.

It is inconceivable to me that people whose family history is steeped in employer abuses who were rescued by unionization, workers rights laws, and were given a decent wage where they could maybe buy a home, get some health coverage, get married and have a wife at home with the kids would be anti the movement who made that happen.

Further inconceivable that people who themselves went to public schools and did plenty well for themselves are now against those very schools in favor of corporate run structures which don't do any better at educating children.

I could go on and on but I digress. We're not supposed to be doing that here. What I'll finish with is that it is sad to see so much progress being threatened by people who would have us shift back to the days of robber barons when large portions of the American workforce were no more than low paid slaves who could maybe go home at night and fight amongst each other for the scraps left behind for a few.

My family went through that and likely so did theirs in Virginia and so did many of your families.
