Hello,

I am still new to the forum.I looked at the sections ''how to do'' and ''services'' but I could not find any company which can do the whole process of creating the toy soldier from sculpting to painting. I found some Russian firms but they are mostly experienced on detailed matte figures. My dream series in my mind are more like W.Hocker,Trophy etc.. Finally can anyone give me an expected cost for a set (such as 6-8 figures)?

Thanks,

Yaman

Hi Yummy,

I do custom-made sets from start to finish. I am about as cheap as you'll find I think. I charge about $15 per figure, shipping included. I prefer to do glossy stuff. You can see some stuff I've made for others at:

www.toyboxarmy.com

I am always open to suggestions for new sets.

Mirhaba Yaman,

I served in the U.S. Army for one year at Sinop, 1962-63, but my spelling of "hello" may not be correct. I don't know about custom-made, but there are a number of companies who might meet your needs. I have been collecting, and subsequently importing, Hiriart toy soldiers for about seven years now. Here is a sample of their catalog with some Turkish themes.

Here are two more sets. This artillery gun team set where the crew is wearing fezzes is the version I have in my collection. The second set is of the Sultan's Turkish navy.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention prices: The nine figure foot sets and the five figure cavalry sets are $125 each or about $13 per foot figure or $25 per mounted figure. The artillery gun teams are $240. If you would like a list of the 340 sets in the Hiriart catalog, please send your email address to matara42@roadrunner.com and I'll will forward it to you. Thanks (tesh a kera derium).

Michael, those are fair prices for gloss sets. There is a guy on Ebay that sells Hiriart sets, but kills the deal by charging $50 for shipping. He lives on one of the islands. Went looking for him, but cannot find him on the Bay right now. How would these figures size up ( scale )next to Hockers and old Britains style figures? Michael

Hi Michael,

That would be patron3085 (Hector Albuquerque) who is actually located in El Salvador which explains the high shipping costs. I just shipped 11 cartons (one to three sets per carton) this month which ranged from $6 to $15 via priority mail with delivery confirmation. For example, it cost $15 each to ship two sets (3 1/2 pounds) cross country from California to Maryland and Florida. It cost $12.50 to ship one set (2 1/2 pounds) to Ohio. In my opinion, they are extremely close in scale to both old Britains and Hockers. You won't be disappointed.

Here is one more, the last one (I think), of Hiriart's Turkish themed sets. It is 1316 WORLD WAR I TURKISH CAMEL CORPS. Note: All camel sets have four camels and cost $125 per set.

Dear James,

Thanks for your reply.I could'nt reply so far because I was out of office for summer vacation.

Your soldiers are great.I always prefer to collect glossy sutff as well.

I need to research more for uniforms and old pictures. I will let you know if I need your help.

Merhaba Mike,

Your spelling is understandable enough :) There are many collectors/manufacturers who served their military duty at Turkey.I hope that you have good experiences and memories in here.

I already have the soldiers you posted and the list. But one of my collector friend was looking for them. I will ask him if he is still interested.

Thank you very much for your concern.

Yaman
