I'm sure you've all heard that James Montgomery Doohan has died at the ripe old age of 85.

Although most will remember this Canadian as "Scotty" on Star Trek he was proudly Canadian. He served with the Canadian forces in WWII. However, the various tall tales which accompanied him left everyone scratching their heads: he was variously described as having seen service in the Royal Canadian Artillery Regiment or the Royal Canadian Air Force. One thing is certain: it was Germans, not Klingons, who caused the loss of some of his fingers.

One interesting and colourful personality who could probably have saved Private Ryan several times over if even half his wartime stories were true.

Yeah there does seem to be a few tales on Doohan's military stories.I heard he did land on Juno in an artillary unit.He crossed a minefield that was mined for tanks so the weight of infantry didn't set off the mines but then he was hit several times by a German machine gun.One bullet took a finger and the one to the chest was stopped by his cigarette case.Amazing.....
Well, hopefully he got beamed up for his final ride to the heavens....See ya Scotty!!!!God bless...
