Hi Guys
It looks like theirs another WW2 movie to look forward too.Its Been reported
it todays paper that Peter Jackson is making a movie about the Dam Busters,
I might get to see a few lancasters around wellington:D .

Can't be too many flying examples left. We've still got one pretty active Lancaster that does the Battle of Britain memorial 'fly bys' with a Hurricane and Spitfire. Awesome to see and hear.

I would say that I hope they don't make a hash of the remake, as I love the original, but if Peter Jackson is directing it, I rather suspect it'll be pretty spectacular.

Here here! Lets hope its a good one I for one would really enjoy it. Like you said the original is really good so lets hope they try and muck it up with too many special effects.

Wow! That should be really cool. Man I wish I had found one of K&C's Wellingtons! I just missed one from Maitland's Toy Soldiers a few years ago, and passed on one from K&C UK because it was 1/48 scale instead of 1/32. Could you imagine how a Wellington would look sitting next to my K&C B-17 on an airfield diorama (the B17 could have made a forced landing on an RAF base). Does anybody on this forum own a K&C 1/32 scale Wellington? I have never seen one in person, only in the Warbirds flyer.

If Peter Jacksons doing it, I'll bet it'll be very spectacular. Judging by the Lord of the Rings series, there no limit to what he could do with computer graphics.

The History Channel or the Military Channel or History International (one of those Discovery Channels anyway) recently had a show about the Lancaster and B-17. They had grandchildren of former crew members going through a training process giving them the chance to actually fly one of the planes as their grandfather had done. They practiced bombing an English farm house with sacks of flour. If I remember correctly, they said that the Lancaster shown was the only one that was still in flying condition. There are some static displays, but only one that can get it up so to speak. England is it's home, as well as three flyable B-17's. Another program about the last remaining flyable B-17's, said that as of the program date, only 12 were still in flyable condition world-wide. If my memory is correct, that will mean a lot of computer graphics.

The article said thier are only 3 lancasters still flying, and peter jackson and the director went to canada for a flight in one. They plan on making life size
models of up to 10 and the rest I guess will be computer generated for
flight scenes.

If you're interested about getting an introduction to Guy Gibson, I recommend Max Hastings' book Warriors, which has a chapter about him.

Gibson was also a Mosquito Pathfinder Pilot as well. Hopefully a few of these will be in the film too. They too were fitted with the Barnes Wallace bouncing bombs! Thanks for the heads up as this something to look forward to.
