There are many joys to living in Maine but powerful storms that knock out power for many days or WEEKS are not in the list.
I just finished two weeks of clean up and repair.

Total Cost was over $1800 for 5 downed trees (cut up and removal) plus barn roof repair and house repair.
Jezzz ... I got it worse that Mike did in Tx. and I didn't have a Cat 5 hurricane ....{eek3}

Just a few photos ...

THREE TREES IN FRONT YARD PLUS WASH AWAY MY WALL

TOOK DOWN THE GUTTER AND DOWN SPOUT

THIS DARN LIMB WAS OVER 32" IN DIAMETER AND TOOK OUT A SECTION OF MY BARN, BUT MISSED THE MAIN STRUCTURE ..{sm2}

Now that the mess is all cleaned up i can back to serious stuff like Toy Soldiers {sm4}

Funny to see this as I've been reading Stephen Long's "Thirty Eight" . . . the story of timber lost in western New England as a result of the hurricane of that name. Have my own memories as I was 5 at the time and still remember the maple that fell over the sandbox I'd been playing in a couple of hours before. Been through several hurricanes . . . including one at sea . . . and a tornado or two and must admit that they have a way of getting your attention. Glad you had nothing more than an inconvenience and an unwanted expense.

Al,

Been through the same type of weather...but NEVER at sea! By Gawd brother that must have been terrifying!
