Dear Friends,
I mistakenly crazy glued a part of a K&C figure to the wrong place!
Does anyone know what if anything can be used to separate the parts without destroying the figure?
I know i will have to do a repaint but i need to find a way to "unglue my mistake"
thanks for any and all advice.

Hot water might do it!

But if it would destroy more, that´s the question!

Get a secound opinion before using the water trick!

Yes, acetone will dissolve the glue. You can get it at the drug store, as nail polish remover-make sure you read the label and that it contains acetone, and do not buy some other kind of polish remover. Or, you can be manly and buy a bottle at the hardware store. But either way, acetone will dissolve the glue. Use a Qtip to apply it to the surface, and wait for the solvent to work (use a Qtip with a pressed paper shaft, the acetone will dissolve the plastic kind).

Hope that helps!
Prost!

Wow - Thanks for the tip. Baron - I will keep it handy for future use ! ;)

Glad to help, Ron!

If you do any scale modeling, it's useful there, too. For example, I use a drop or two of acetone to liquefy filling putty (I use Squadron's white), to make it flow better into seams, or to remove excess.

Hammer, I just thought of something else, too-if you've glued your fingers together, use it to dissolve the glue ;)

Prost!

Dear Harvey;

In Europe modelbuilders use a so called "debounder". For example ZAP-debounder. The glue can be removed WITHOUT the painting will be completely destroyed. (as will be the case if you use acetone) I'm sure you will find on internet a debounder for metalglue.

Best regards;
Eddy

Any hobby store that sells super glue should have a debonder in a similar size botter or tube so you don't need to buy a large quantity
