The motto of the 17th Lancers was "Death or Glory" and they were nicknamed "The Death or Glory Boys". This officer is among members of the 17th Lancers who fought at the Battle of Ulundi on July 4, 1879, where they successfully routed the Zulus.

These infantry figures could also be used, possibly marching past...
44010 - Highlander - 72nd Regiment - 1879
44029 - Private - 24th Foot Marching - 1879
the whole Zulu band
or some 24th running into battle:
45008 - British 24th Foot Charging
45007 - British 24th Foot Officer
45009 - Zulu War Ox Wagon and Supplies
Britains really hit it right on the mark with Redcoats, Bluecoats, Petticoats, etc... It is like a multi-ear version of the Premier series.

Got to agree with you there, its like the premier series taken to a totally new level!!! Hopfully the Redcoats range will get to the Great War eventually & we will have some new glossy WW1 to add to the premier.

Good idea! Glossy WW1 is always welcome, especially at affordable prices. -- Al

Glossy WW1 toy soldier sets

I've heard Wm. Hocker will be putting out his own line of glossy WW1 toy soldier sets in the next couple of years.
Should be fun to look at!

This is good news. Hocker makes many unusual sets so it will be interesting to see what he chooses to do. -- Al

Does anybody know who sculpted the lancer? Compared to the now discontinued figures from the Zulu range, he appears to be rather "slim"...
