“Those Russian tanks that broke through the Italians last week…well they’re in Hollidt’s rear now. All air assets are being diverted from the relief drive to him. Hoth is even losing 6th Panzer today. We’ll never get out of here now. You are to report to Morozovsk airfield immediately.”

“Will I have fighter escort?”

“No, Armamentsminister Figarti does not think fighter cover for us will be cost effective”

Stuka Pan Crop small.jpg
“All I want is for the pilot to mail this letter.”

“JA! Or maybe you want a ride out of here with the tail gunner!”

Stuka Overrun crop small.jpg
Due to fog, our Stuka pilot is diverted to Tatsinskaya 30 miles to the southwest which is overrun by a marauding Soviet Tank Corps the next day

Blowtorch ,

Very interesting story line involving the Stuka , T-34 looks great...How would that First Legion tank commander work with the K&C T-34 ?!

Joe

What a beautiful piece and wonderful figures added for detail. Like that fuel cart as well.

Thanks everyone, I have to give credit for the idea to Robert Forczyk & his book "Red Christmas" which is an amazing work. Basically he took an event which appeared as no more than a sentence or footnote in the most well researched of Stalingrad books, and turned it into an amazing retelling of the event from both sides, which is extremely rare in east front books. The book combines the tactical situation on the ground, and the political attitudes in Berlin & Moscow (namely Hitler, Goering & Stalin), but I dont' want to spoil a really good read.

Joe, the K&C T-34 turret works fine with this fig with the hatch open or closed. If the hatch is open, there is enough depth to the hole for the entire leg to immerse in. I'll take some pics later.

Hi,
Great pics!
Hope to see a diorama in a close future{bravo}}
Cheers

Really like the T-34 and commander. Might have to look at that ! Brad

Blowtorch ,

I will have to check that book out...The last book i read on the Eastern front was " War without Garlands " Operation Barbarossa 1941/1942 by Robert Kershaw...written through eyewitness accounts...
Would love to see a pic of the First Legion tank commander on a K&C T34...

Thanks ,

Joe

Thanks Xavier, but baby steps! {sm4} Still learning the camera & lighting. Next hurdle to jump is Photoshop. But I am looking forward to taking it to the next level

The T-34 comes with the blanket & tarp, but not the gas can. This Tank Corps was a plundering unit driving on captured fuel, so I put that gas can in from the German accessory pack

Nice, lots of great stuff. T-34 looks great. With the hatch open, is there any interior detailing?

Thanks, I'll add a photo of the turret interior to the list. In the meantime you can kind of see it on page 62 of Frank's Stalingrad thread. Basically it's just the gun, and I don't mean to sound dismissive. When I bought my first FL T-34 & opened the hatch, I had to remember to breath again. I wasn't expecting to see that gun-it's not shown in the ad pics. What an incredible detail I just wasn't expecting. Surprises like that are just few & far between

What a GREAT post {bravo}}{bravo}} That fantastic Stuka really deserves to be surrounded by First Legion figures which to me is the best match for Figarti... they just complement each other so well . Thanks for sharing really KOOL . regards Gebhard

Wow, didn't know that First Legion had made a Stuka:):) seriously the Figarti Stuka works very well with the First Legion Stalingrad range, and glad to see some of the new winter troops starting to show up in some photos...Sammy

Here's some graphics to the story

23-Dec-42 South Combined Crop2.jpg
On 12/23, something is driving the 306ID & 22PD towards the river crossings just north of Moro airfield, now being occupied by rear echelon & LW field troops. Hoth in the lower right corner is now 48km from Paulus, hoping he launches some kind of attack, diversion or general retreat to take the heat off 6th & 17th Panzer Divs.

24-Dec-42 South Crop4.jpg

On the 24th, the main Luftwaffe Ju-52 base at Taz is now sacked. Germans still don't know exactly what they are dealing with; in reality it's the 24th Tank Corps that has sacked Taz & is now cut off by Balck's 11th PD. The real 25th Tank Corps hasn't been identified yet, as that & yet another strong formation, a Guards Mech Infantry Corps is coming down from the north hitting Group Spang trying to get at Moro airfield They've had less luck finding German fuel supplies than the 24th TC did, and aren't going to make their objective. (For those who follow the career of Hans Rudel, he is at Moro on this day wainting for the fog to lift so he can start getting at the 25th Tank Corps heading for him). Notice 6th PD has now been recalled & the Soviets have wasted no time counterattacking the now gravely weakened Hoth relief column.

and your pics

Thanks for the extra photos. That is a nice looking gun interior. Must have been cramped for the crew inside a T-34 though. The FL tank commander looks good with the K&C T-34 as well.
