Del Prado 28mm figures (1 Viewer)

Hello there,

my name is Tom and I'm writing you from Germany.

Recently, I got hold of a few 28 mm figures of the Del Prado Relive Waterloo series, and I like those figures very much.

Unfortunately, this series has never been published here. As far as I know, it was only sold in the U.K.

So I started to gather information on the net about those figures, but apart from links to ebay auctions, I was not successfull.

So I thought, I'd ask here, if those figures are at all popular amongst collectors and tabletop players.
If I look at the numerous ebay auctions, I get the impression, that there must be a lot of interest, since all of the lots offered there are selling, sometimes for quite high prices.

But why is it then, that I don't find any other information regarding those figures from collectors, user groups, etc.? Where are the people, that win those auctions?

And, aren't there any other ways of getting hold of those figures (used)?

Please help me with this, since I don't get it...

I'd never heard of this line, either, until someone posted about them over in the HZ-Forum--was that you, by chance?

I don't think Del Prado advertised this line anywhere but in the UK, if they were advertised at all.

How do they stack up against other 28mm figures? And not necessarily against other metal figures, but against the newer plastic figures, such as HaT, Zvezda and others. There are a lot of excellently modeled and detailed 1/72 sets out there now, far more than were available when I was a kid.

Do you collect the finished figures, or do you also paint your own? Again, welcome to the forum, and I hope we get to see your collection!

I have a fair number of these figures in storage. I can't say they are all in perfect condition, but if you are interested in them, I am sure we can work something out as I don't collect this scale. I think I also have some of the literature and a cardboard diorama mat that was made for this series...oh yes...just had a quick peek and found some of it. Let me know if you are interested and I will dig out the rest of it.

Hi I have some of these and can find more for you - the bad news is that just the figures are available and not the paper and cardboard Accessories.

What a great historical set, and teaching tool- a metal example of a playset!

Hi,

I was able to win some auctions on Relive Waterloo figures in the U.K., so my collection is starting to grow.

Unfortunately, it's difficult to get an overview on all the figures that were produced. There is a site on the net, that lists every issue, that came out, but it doesn't show, what regiments the indidual figures belong to. Since I'm new to this field, the codes on the bottoms of the figures don't geive me an idea about that (PAC..., MIL..., BYN..., etc.).
Does anyone here now how to read those codes or even have a list of all figures? If I had all the ofsprey booklets, I'd now, unfortunately, I don't and I don't intend to buy them.

Too bad, Del Prado is out of business, else I could maybe get help there.

thanks for the trouble, but unfortunately, that doesn't help me much. I also found some information about the Waterloo regiments on Wikipedia, but what I mean is what the individual abbreviations on the Delp Prado figures stand for... .

I think i can help you. I make the masters of theese figures, and somewhere in my workshop i must have the list and the meaning of the codes. I'll post the list when found it.
