Del Prado Samurai, these 4 arrived today, I have 14 [from the range that has 70+ figures]. I pick them up when they become available and are at the right price. They look nice in a flat wall cabinet [I use Picture Pride cabinets] and are colourful, with some interesting standing poses.

I like this series and pick up the odd one from Evilbay and at shows, i have 35 of them, steady, no sweat, collecting. Recently looked on UK ebay to what was on there and something made me smile.

There were 30 DP Samuria figures available for sale, figure number SAM05 [i have it] was on there and marked by 2 sellers as 'Rare' or 'Extremely Rare', but of the 30 Del Prado Samuria figures on there, 8 are this figure, so it way the most 'for sale' on there, that is 27% of al Del Prado Samurai figure on UK ebay. One seller has it on there at 3 different prices......

The mind boggles...........

They are colourful and look nice in a row in a flat wall cabinet.

For the record K&C designed and master-painted the first 38 figures for Del Prado’s ‘Samurai’ series…It was both fun and a nightmare at the same time.

Mainly because there were two Japanese experts involved who could seldom agree on anything and constantly changed and altered details almost daily. These two guys would not even agree what day it was, never mind what style of armour was worn or what kind of weapon was carried.

After about 6 months of this we said, “Please, find your own designers, sculptors and master-painters!”

This is the only occasion when we have ever .”said, “Thanks, but no thanks”. To a client.
Just a little background story to the series…
Andy.

Thanks for the background, they are great looking figures, different to my normal WW2 collecting, will pick up as and when i see them, at the appropreate price, know next to nothing about them, as individual warriors or their histories. I just collect as they look good and i like them. the link in this thread was very useful to see what there is in the series. Do not see them for sale very often, i actually picked up 6 at the Thornbury Plastic Modelliers show, great show if you in the region, but people come from all over the country.

Yeah, in my experience, many sellers use "rare" when they have really have no idea how rare or common their item is. I saw an assembled and painted Tradition SYW mounted figure up for sale, labeled, "rare". But Tradition currently sells the kit, so can the auction item really be described as "rare".

As always, trust your own eyes, your own experience and knowledge.

I have some Del Prado Samurai, too; I have an eBay search for them and keep an eye on it. I agree, they're very nice. They fit well with some other brands, too.

Prost!
Brad
