Hey - Does anyone have information on the DELAWARE SHOW coming up this month ??

Location ? Time ? Dates ?

My understanding its at the end of the month ?

April 24 & 25, 2009
67th Miniature Figure Collectors of America Show
(Formally known as the "Valley Forge" show)
NEW LOCATION
Chase Center on the Riverfront
800 South Madison Street, Wilmington Delaware

Found a website. http://www.mfcashow.com/
Then the 26th is the show in Gettysburg.

Hi, Ron, I'm hurt, you haven't paid attention to any of my posts about our show :(

Yes, it's the MFCA show, Jagdpanther is right about the website, but the contact information is not correct, Vern retired from the show committee, so please do not call him about signing up for a table. Past President Art Etchells is the chairman now, and the contact for the dealers.

As to the popular name, yes, for about 20 years, the show was held at the Valley Forge Convention Center, right across from the national park. We were forced out by the increasing cost of renting the hall, and after searching for several years before the move, we settled on the Chase Center in Wilmington. While it's a nice facility, there were some advantages to the VFCC that made it worth taking up new negotiations-primarily that the complex contains the convention space and hotel under one roof. The result is that we've negotiated a new contract with the VFCC and will be moving back there next year. We've also been able to get back to our traditional dates in May-the April weekend was out of necessity, it was the only one the Chase Center could offer.

More details will be available shortly, at the website. The word was posted at the TimeLines forum, but I'm awaiting more info from the committee chair, before I can update our website.

The show is a combination of an exhibition/competition of miniature figure painters and modelers, and a dealer mart. The exhibition is on par with shows like the World Expo, and draws modelers from all over the world.

If you do come, please introduce yourself, I'll be working the admissions desk (and helping run the hospitality suite Friday and Saturday nights).

Prost!

I remembered your posts - just not the details - hey, at least I knew it had moved to Delaware :D

I am not sure if I can go this year with those dates - I leave for Germany and wont be back until the 24th - so that means the 25th would be hard too.

Maybe - next year when you get it back to Valley Forge - I can make it to the show. My In-Laws live in Chester Springs, PA.

Thanks for all the info.

Hi, Ron! That's quite the dilemma-a trip to Germany, or to a show! I hope you can make it to the shows, too, but enjoy your trip. Have a bock beer for me!

Where are you going, or is that classified?

Also, since you get over relatively frequently, have you ever been to the Kulmbach show? It takes place every two years, and this is the year for it again. Lots more flats than fully round figures, but there are still some, and it's quite the experience. Plus, Kulmbach has some excellent breweries ;)

Prost!

My trip is with my client KMW - Leopard Tank guys - I will be at Corporate HQ in Munich for a few days and golf with the CEO ;)

Then off to Kassel - to the Artillery Production Plant for meetings on the new system - AGM - and some live firing of the weapon system with the German Army.

All pretty much business trip - with the exception of a German Bier or two !

I will probally be spent when I get back and not up for a trip to Delaware on that Saturday - plus I leave with the wife on April 30th for New Orleans for another business trip and JAZZ FEST ! :D

A little busy schedule going here.

Look forward to the new show in PA - next year.

Ron

A week from today. I can't wait! :)

(Well, maybe I can. I still have a lot of things to finish. Mostly tartan. )

Yep, getting pscyhed! Except I'll probably be broke before I even get there, so it's all about socializing for me, this year!

Went to Valley Forge show every year and found some of my favorite stuff there..Glad that they will be coming back. Only 1 1/2 hours away from home..Not sure about DE. Michael

I may go, not sure yet, but glad it's moving back to VF. Picked up some great deals there on old K & C two years ago.

I found super easy directions to the show, from where I live..I might sneak a trip on saturday....Michael

Brad,
Excellent news about the move back and also the move to later in May; the Doubletree downtown where I stay charges an arm and a leg and the Chase Center is nice but they've got 9,000 rules about what you can and can't do there.

The hotel at VF is much nicer as is the area (have to love in the dealer packet mention of "It's not a good idea to walk around the hotel area at night!), looking forward to moving back there in 2010...............

Delaware was great today, First Legion (Napoleonic Staff Set= Home Run), K & C (Churchill car another home run) and JJD (wagons, carts, Jacobites were big movers) all flew off the tables.

Thanks to all of you who came today and showed your support, this forum rocks........
