I am a great fan of all K&C sets, specially Classic Germans, WW1, ACW sets and most of all the great and detail set of diorama options that Andy and the crew provides us to be able to create our own dioramas. Having said that, the Desert Village and fortifications one is by far the one I like to most and I have been using the sets in many of my dios......Pitty is the fact that the fortification walls that came out along with the initial series are no longer available.....a good selection of houses, minarets and shops/stable are still available and recently a wood merchant house has been released....but the fortification walls are a big WISH MORE were around for although the gate way is still available the walls given that any one seriously considering a nice fort dio will need at least some 4 to six sets....quickly did away with the original offerings and now we are all dry{sm2}{sm2}{sm2}
Andy,
If your team does not plan to bring the old wall back into the catalog could you consider an alternate one....maybe with some add ons such as a tower for us to create a corner for the fort ....??

Keep in mind that this Desert building series is an option to many of us...for example it will be a great dio prop if we collect: Romans, Egypt, Nativity, Napoleonic, Lawrence of Arabia, WW1 Turks and British, WW1 Turks and Aussies, WW2 British and Axis to mention a few....{eek3}:wink2:....A great market there.....not to mention that no one else has Desert Dios to offer hence you can even tap into others wishes for offerings.....I attach a few pics were I am using your great sets along with Scalelink soldiers and just see what a great effect!

Attached a few pics where I am using your great sets along with Scalelink soldiers and just see what a great effect!....The biggest challenge with these sets is adding them in a way that I can create a fortress corner given that there is no corner tower ( given that the tower that was provided with the original offerings had slanted walls and base, more suitable as a stand alone set versus the function of acting as a connecting corner of two wall segments or as a middle tower joining to standard walls in a long stretch of battlements......Can you help us???Guess there are more collectors in the forum that feel the same!!:rolleyes:

Very nice looking desert scene you have there. I agree that the Desert Village pieces from K&C are some of their best diorama items. Also agree that it would be helpful if more wall sections were made available as they are long gone now.

Duke, Thanks for the note...
I have more pics at a public album in the forum called French Foreign Legion...

I find using the tower gateway DV item works quite well, but agree a proper corner would be good. Robin.

Robin,

Great set up!! What a citadel..:salute::....very nice indeed...impressed at the amount of walls and buildings you have...
You had the foresight of buying the walls and all when they were easily available....now walls are non existent....

Thanks for the tip on the corner tower....a couple of weeks ago I came to the same conclusion and ordered one ( two at once would be beyond my designated budget - and the Misses would kill me......will have to wait a bit for another tower...)..:D:D:cool:in the meantime will keep my eyes open for wall sections....
But what would really be nice would be something that K&C could devise and sell to the overall collector's community....As a matter of fact they have some great examples to work from at the K&C official site under special projects....If they could devise something coming from there would be great....

Cheers

Totally agree....I asked Andy a while back to make right and left angle walls. He thought it was a good idea but left us hanging! I used the walls and village to recreate Khartoum.

Let us try again....if you have a chance drop him a note.....
Bet you this is an untapped market for diorama accessories that will increase sales of all the Desert/Middle East collections.......:salute::

I own a few pieces of the Desert Village and really like them as well. My favorite probably being the Stable Building at this time. Many of you have mentioned the many reasons pieces like the Desert Village compliment other items by K&C. The pieces are really versatile. While I don't plan to make a castle, I can certainly appreciate the interest in seeing more pieces added to the collection. Unfortunately, I'm running out of display space for larger K&C scenes.

I utilize the Stable Building for my British 8th Army, but I may be changing soon:

Great pieces by K&C!

Incredible setup Robin! Looks fantastic. The buildings are some of the best things that K & C makes ^&cool Unfortunately, I only have one but love it.

Great pieces by K&C!

Hi WesternOutlaw,
Great 8th Army dio of yours...yes the stable is a great set, even on its own due to its inclusive four sided complete approach, and versatile also!
The stand alone house blocks are also very handy either alone or in group....and can give you great depth and different angles you can shoot or just appreciate the diorama.
Pitty that the main gate and outer wall segments can only work together otherwise they seem out of place. Reason why we mentioned that K&C should come up with a corner tower to match the other parts and allow even more diorama options...

The different opportunities in the use of the Desert Village sets can be easily proven...just look/scroll this thread,.we go from French Foreign Legion to Roman, to WW2 and I bet there are many more not to mention the great super dio that was set up by Wayne and others from the fórum at a Museum in Australia to commemorate the 100 years of WW1.....

I only wish that K&C read these notes of ours and saw the Market potential out there.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Fear not there are more additions to our Desert Village planned…Including a number of walls and corner pieces that will help connect different areas.

Please however remember that it’s not always possible to meet every collector’s needs, wants and requirements as and when everyone wishes. I wish it were so but there’s still only 24 hours in a day and just 7 days in a week!

Rest assured I’m not leaving anyone “hanging” just trying to do what we can do…when we can do it. And I do read all of the Forum notes as well..Your wishes will not be ignored or rejected…Promise!

All the best guys and…happy collecting.

Dear Team,

Just catching up on this " very dear topic " , I have recently seen that K&C has released some partially destroyed walls in order to provide us Middle East Dio Fans with some additional structures to see the villages grow.......along with the nice offering of village houses ....BUT what about FORTRESS WALLS or event better.....Corner towers to allow us to have a REAL FORT.....not just a back drop to a dio.....The corner towers and more walls are KEY to allow us in depth dio layout with more angels and such for our dio set ups...{sm2}{sm2}...Not to say help King & Country move the slow moving inventory WALL GATES that are still stuck in their inventory and on that of the distributors........

Andy, thanks for the village walls ....but we would love corner towers and battlements......:salute:::salute:::salute::
How can we grow our Australian, Turk or Frech Foreign Legion dios...without them:confused::confused::confused:
Cheers

Ops....Just a quick follow up....sorry if I forgot to mention that these corner walls would also benefit our co collectors in the areas of:
All currently traded segments of K&C offerings.....
WW1 - Empire Armies in the Middle East
Egyptians
Romans
Arabs and Nativity
Napoleon's Egyptian Adventure
WW2 - DAK and Rommel Fans
WW2 - Italians
WW2 - 8TH Army.....
Quite a list of possible options to increase sales not only of the segments themselves but also a sure channel for the referred additional fortification requirements.....
Cheers
