Gents,
The London show was probably the busiest that I have ever gone to. Tony will probably give you the stats and so on later. What was noticeable was there was a large number of european visitors and tradesmen to the show this time.
JJD was represented by the the man himself at the TMTerrain store and he had the new 1812 series with him which is available from Feb if I remember rightly. The first release is a Canadian regiment and they were as one now expects, great poses and detail. The Montcalm figure was also on show and again this would be a must-have for any JJD collectors. (Sorry no photographs this time as I forgot my camera in the panic to get out of the house before my train left
).
Figarti was also there with its releases from the Chicago show, loved the V2 which was on display as well as the B-17 which was painted in Coastal Command colours. I also had my first viewing of the buildings and in the end bought the Western European farm building. I do like the LRDG vehicles that Figarti make and in my humble opinion they are better than the K&C equivalents. In all a good display from the Figarti guys and now just hope that they make the Lancaster as there new aircraft. Me and a few others I believe. (I can also see why people collect the K&C Warbirds, they do look amazing as centrepieces of collections).
K&C had there new Crimean War figures on display (I picked up the new wave to keep my Crimean collection up todate). The one thing to note was a. How big K&C UK is becoming - there must have been at least a dozen or so staff plus floaters and b. The numbers of people buying their stuff - this hobby is booming. There was also a number of younger collectors in there area buying in bulk. No more doom-mongering about a dying hobby. Good displays as always showing the ranges.
Britains featured their soon to be released Zulu War range and these figures are stunnung the detail on the new Zulus and Brits is very good. The new hospital is simply a must have when it is released in the Spring. It was also good to speak to Richard and Ken from Britains to find out what is coming in the future and other information. It looks like the Zulu range will be an ongoing series with the other major ranges such as ACW, AWI, Napoleonics and WW1/2. Rorkes Drift will be the first few waves and then who knows, so get your suggestions to Richard Walker on the Britains pages. I know that I'll be getting this series.
Conte was available through Maison Militaire and this year I bought a number of the Spartan/Persian series - in fact enough to set up a mid-sized diorama. I know these figures are either loved or not on this forum but I like them for what they are and am pleased to have them in my collection. These figures were shifted pretty quickly and when I went back to pick up my bundle most of the series was sold out. Hi to UKREB by the way, I met him at MM talking about Confederat Casualties figures.
There was alot of other stuff to report on but I couldn't go everywhere due to time. Apologies for not taking the camera..........
Rgds
