Hi.
My students are covering the period of European history after the fall of Napoleon, the second time. All of our discussions leave me wondering if a company ever produced a figure of Metternich or of Talleyrand?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My first thought was that either CBG/Mignot/Lucotte, or Vertunni or Starlux might have, but my catalog lists from those makers do not contain Tallyrand or Metternich.

I can't find any reference in my Stadden and Rose catalogs, either.

Prost!

for Talleyrand
have a look here

forget the description :)

But seems to me, to be a piracy of a figure by Le Cimier
http://lecimier.fr/54_lecimier_pied_empire_large34.html

and company Metal Modèles is now the owner of the moulds
http://www.metal-modeles.com/fr/

Those are kits, Mirof, not finished figures. I think Mike is looking for finished figures, unless I misunderstood his post.

Prost!

Did anyone every make a figure of King Leopold II of Belgium?

Hi.
I have begun reading King Leopold's Ghost so I was wondering if anyone ever made a figure of him?
I would like to add it to my collection of personality figures.
Thanks,
MikeNick

I bought all my painted Le Cimier/Metal Modèles figurines (including the Talleyrand one) a few years ago in Paris at Les Drapeaux de France store near the Louvre and Palais Royal garden. They don't have a website anymore but you can call them at 011-33-1-40-20-00-11. They ship to the US. You can see some of those figurines on my TS album (Talleyrand in on the front row) at http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=57852&d=1253419714

I see vintage plastic Mokarex figures with the same name of different Leopolds I, II III.

We speak here about Leopold II
who according to the book, allegedly killed 10 million peoples, on a population estimated 20 million
With a "expeditianory" forces of,what, 200 men, in a country half the size of US, with no town, no road, no airfield . only one short line of railway, build at he very beginning along the Congo river . Period beween 1885 - 1908
No truck, no planes, almost no boats, on foot with handgun using still paperbullets, wih all the unknown sicknesses ; malaria, bilariose, tse-tse ..., in a country covered mainly by tropical forest, at least in the region he entered first .
More : the expeditionary force was mainly used to fight slavery from the Arab
The congolese soldier had to proof the use of their bullets, and, brought back cuted hands as proof ( ring a bell somewhere : scalps )
The people used by Leopold were coming form 10 differents countries and the "enrepreneurs" took workers by force, those same workers, in a country living mainly of hunting, could not feed their family .
There was never a hunt for killing the Congolese but a need for exploited workers by private companies who were doing what they wanted without control . Mainly rubbertrees .
There was an independant multi countries inquiry runed in 1904-1905, they pointed the lack of control on the colonialist
They questioned 100eds of peoples including some hand mutilated ( those for robbery "allegation")
After those reports, Leopold II was pushed to give away the Congo to the Belgian state
There is nothing to be proud in the "colonisation" of Congo .

Now the Storme figure :
