I had two mtd swoppet-like Romans. They were obvious copies of Timpo, but made of many seperate different color plastic, not molded overlays like Timpo. They were only marked Made in HK, or just HK, I can't remember. But they were not marked Transogram.

Someone sold them to me as Transogram, but I was never able to verify who made them, I have seen several original adverts of the swoppet series, and the romans are never mentioned.

I also saw a few foot romans with the same look, They were not bad at all & fit near perfect in with Timpo Romans, Just slightly chunkier.

Anyone know anything about these ?

Don't know much, But I had at one point several Romans and crusaders. Very much like Timpo, not as good, moveable arms, heads and waists. Chunkier like you said and overall simply not as appealing as Timpo. Not bad for cheap toys back in the 60's I guess.I saw a box full of Crusaders at OTSN.
Thats all I know.

Fubar, that's interesting that you had the two types together around the same time. Other Hong Kong makers copied Timpo as well, but the figures are usually not as well made as Transogram. The medieval knights Timpo made are dead ringers for Timpo, almost identical & their color has not faded.
