His stuff is on ebay all the time, but I do not know the current status of the mfg...Michael

we were friends then,,nice talented man and a great collector, wish I knew of his whereabouts, thanks for the posts

Bill Holt is now retired. I have not seen him at Chicago in several years. Last time we talked he was not making any more figures and was catching up on back orders. Under General Toy Soldiers Thread I put up some Dimestores including a set of Marines made by Bill.

The thread is called Got A DIME. Page 5 on the list of threads. John

thanks for your reply,I heard today from someone in the business that he is in bad health but whereabouts unknown,,I seem lately to be losing the people I was closest to in prior years ,upsetting to say the least.

In the summer 2007 edition of The Old Toy Soldier there is an article about Holt Hobbies. It is written by Louis Steinberg. I am unable to find my copy of that magazine but perhaps someone else has it. I have seen more recent references to Bill Holt but not sure where. Not sure if this is much help.

Bill Holt is one of the nicest guys in the hobby, and produced some great Dimestores. One noteable item was his "Teamwork" Limited Edition of a German Shephard Dog with a K-9 Ammo Runner. The dog was painted white, to represent our white German Shephard, Heidi. I last chatted with Bill & Sharon back in 1999 (the last year I attended the OTSN Show), and have since lost touch. I do have a copy of Lou Steinberg's great article "Saluting Holt's Hobbies 1984-1999," and will send anyone, who is interested, a photo copy of the article. All I ask is that you send a Large Self Addressed-Stamped Envelope to:

Vintage Castings, PO Box 4809, Wayne, NJ 07474-4809

Thanks again for the kind help and words about my friend,,I find Im really blaming myself a great deal for losing touch,,He was also a career Air Force veteran,,I was a frequent guest at his home and picked up a lot of tech help from painting to mold making, his operation was mostly himself with a bit of family painting assistance at times..like the craftsmen in the hobby and business his figures will always be around with "Holts Hobbies " under the base..I look at my own collections from 1/1 vintage autos to soldiers and see we are the caretakers of things that will go on and provide all the enjoyment that they do now,,not a lot of that in many other ways.
