Hi there...We had just started the WWII range at W.Britain/Ertle when the change of ownership occured. I recall that we had three sets in preproduction and an additional single figure that I recall was used with another 1 or 2 sculpts that were done elsewhere. The set we developed directly would have been the 2 figure Waffen SS MG 42 set with stone wall, a 3 figure Waffen SS infantry set, a 3 figure US Airborne set and a single Heer figure standing with an MP44. There were many others planned and I believe some of them were developed, but honestly I was so busy with new work on a museum installation (Pamplin Park Va.) and working with Conte that I did not pay attention. Hope this helps! Ken

By the way...I just got my US 30th Infantry Division Bazooka team and Firing sets today, and the finish and casting is some of the best yet! I am just wrapping up additional Waterloo sculpts for the first half of 2007 and heading back into ACW and WWII. I feel honored to be part of the new W. Britains team! Ken

Hi There! How are you? It has been a while since we last spoke.
Title?... I guess I never asked, or thought about it. I have worked with Richard Walker enough over the years that the working relationship is about as good as anyone could hope for. First Gear is a top notch company in every way and very professional. On that note I will repeat that I feel great about working with the new W. Britain and the capable management of that division by Rick.
If any of you are familiar with the high end die cast vehicles that First Gear is known for, then you should be confident that we will work hard at providing some of the best figures for our market too. I have researched, designed and sculpted hundreds of figures and scenics for this industry and the new production product by the new W. Britain is closer to the original sculpts and paint masters than I have ever seen before. I actually have some of the new figures on display in my studio, including the glossy classics...and that is rare. I can't tell you how dissapointed I have been in the past seeing the final products I have designed at point of purchase...not the case here.
So call this an unofficial observation and assessment by a design studio for now if you like. Hope to see you soon, Ken

Hi Ken:

Glad you are happy, and enjoying yourself. I for one think you deserve a

terrific amount of credit considering all the wonderful items you have created

for the military miniature collectors. A lot of people are well known in this

industry, and I'm sure they all know you. I wish more of the collectors knew

of the wonderful additions to their collections made possible by you.

Every time I take a look at the Conte Church I am happy I had the

opportunity to spend a few minutes with you at the Atlanta Show last year.

The bridge you signed now sits on top of my desk, and I look forward to

meeting you again at some future show. I think Britians needs to make you

a Vice-President, at the least!

Gosh...I think I want to work for you! Thanks again, I feel very lucky to be doing something I love so much. This studio started out doing only museum exhibit, model design and fabrication. A call from Ron Barzos asking for help was probably the real start of it all...and to think that I kept telling him that he should really find someone else. Thanks for your persistence Ron!

Hi there! These were interesting sets based on the detail packed painting by Deitz under RC2 ownership. This was before Richard Walker and I were back together working under the First Gear ownership and at that time I was not involved with RC2/W.Britain. In this period I worked with Conte, Corgi and ONWTC, in addition to various museum commissions.
