I would really like to add this corn set to my diorama but I cannot believe it would cost in the region of £25.00 plus p+p in the UK.:mad:

Is this literally all the set contains or do you get several of them in one box?

Does anyone else think this seems a particularly steep price or am I sounding like a tightwad!!!

That's all you get.

With the conversion rate that set over here works out to about £21.75

Hi There,

Not sure where you found this item for sale in the UK but TF is cheaper by a long shot even with the shipping it appears you would still save money. I am not sure of the number of corn rows in the set but I believe what you see is what you get. I would shop around if I were you.

All the best

Dave

Seems high to me. Why don't you ask the seller what you get, I know I would?

If you check the WBritain web site you'll find that it's a two piece set......The Lt.

I did see that but I simply could not believe that you only get the 2 for that amount of money, looks like my farmer will have to go hungry as theres no way I would pay that sort of money for just that.

Alex has the right idea, though; I was thinking the same thing, as I've followed cornwallis' thread. Unless you're wedded to having the piece by Britains, to keep the set complete, I would look to the broader world of miniatures and collectibles for similar items.

For example, right now, here in the US, places like Michael's and AC Moore are selling Halloween-themed items. There are series of decorative miniatures that probably include corn stalks. Spooky Town is one such brand. It's worth stopping in to your local arts & crafts store, or even chains like WalMart or Target, to see what you might find.

Prost!

I was just thinking about this Britains set and was wondering

There are two pieces and they are made of metal. I don't know but I assume there is about the same metal content in each as a figure. A two figure set cost about $50 but does have more detail and has more to be painted. I guess they are not that bad pricewise after all.

That said does the price just seem expensive because they are background item?

Another option is Old Northwest Trading Company. They make a set of 2 groups of stalks (4 stalks per group - so 8 stalks per pack) for about $20, compared (less than 2/3 the price of the Britains set). It does take a few. I have 4 as background in a small Civil War diorama (about 8 inches across), and I could use 2-4 more.

Hi there,
I sculpted both the W. Britain corn with pumpkins set, 22 metal corn stalks with two resin bases with pumpkins...$36.00
... and the Old Northwest Trading Company set with with 8 metal cornstalks with two resin bases...$20.00
These will both work together if you wish to intermix them
All the Best!
