I just read a post where the person said he got two of the new duks. Wondering how many people buy duplicates? Myself, it is one of each, although I buy all of K&C military ranges.
K&C is way to expensive to set up large dioramas with strickly K&C pieces.
That why I collect Conte plastic and FOV vehicles, I use those for setting up dios.
Do you Napolianic guys collect more than one of each?

Initially, I purchase one of each set in a theme I am collecting to ensure I get everything -- especially since there is now a greater chance of having something sold out!!! For my Streets of Old Hong Kong dioramas, I have picked up multiple sets or loose figures to recreate crowded streets -- K&C's retail store in Hong Kong use to have a cabinet filled with odds and ends at substantial discounts (early 1990's, so NOT NOW). I am probably going to get some additional K&C Napoleonic figures to create more visually realistic infantry ranks and squares.

I am trying and going broke :) for instance my 71st battallion has 20 guys some duplicates some not...they do look geat at a pretty penny :( I will be
buying 2 artillery sets side by side to give my scenes a more complete look.

Cheers

I have two Stugs because of the limited edition one otherwise i would only buy one of something.

I usually buy one of everything, but when it comes to the older stuff I buy duplicates every chance I get for trade purposes, or to flesh out my dioramas (which are in fact, all K&C). My friend Hans, on the other hand, buys about 4 of everything, because is dream is to set up huge battle scenes.

Not as a regular practice but I'm thinking about buying an extra set of the new Tommies but strictly for a diorama.

I wonder how many people have bought an extra WS 43, the Wittman Tiger, in anticipation of its retirement. When that retires, these will probably flood ebay, keeping the price low and dashing the hopes of many. I think that set will be the first real test of how prices may work in the future following the big wave of interest in K & C.

That's a good point, Brad.

Most buy for the love of the hobby and the product but some get the idea that anything produced will become quite valuable overtime. This is rarely so.

I'm really interested to see the outcome of the "recently retireds" too. I must admit that I keep a little archive of the pieces I like - though what I like is rarley the most interesting to collectors.

I have to admit that I buy for the love of the hobby and not for speculation. My view of hobbies in general is that you should buy what you like but not for investment because who knows how you will do. Speculating on what is generally a hobby can be a dangerous game.

I generally agree with exception to my tin tanks and armored cars. I know a good price when I see it - not much speculating there! ;)

Generally I only buy one of each but if opportunity knocks on a older retired set I pounce on it for resale or trading purposes. I buy for the love of the hobby to but the limited editions are hard to turn down and not speculate making a little extra on.It all goes back into the K&C fund anyway.ADDICTION, remember!!!!
