Hi.
I picked up this figure on ebay of Admiral David Farragut. It could have been painted by a collector. Nonetheless, I am searching for the manufacturer of even the casting.

Can you provide a photo of the whole figure, including the base? Is there any marking on it anywhere?

Without seeing the base, I will make a WAG and say that it reminds me of the Franklin Mint's Civil War figure series, or the American Fighting Man series, which wasn't issued by FM but was sculpted by the same sculptors, possibly including Ron Hinote.

Another WAG is that the casting originates with King-White/Reeves. I think they had a figure of Farragut in their American Civil War series. This one seems to have crisper, finer detail than King-White was known for, though.

But if you could show a photo of the whole figure, with the base, and the underside of the base, that would be a big help.

Prost!

According the the caption, that figure on the N&B page is an Imrie-Risley casting. I went to Imrie-Risley's website, and found their Farragut figure here: http://www.imrierisleyminiatures.com/the-american-civil-war/miscellaneous-figures/

I'd say this is solved, except for one thing. If it's a genuine I/R casting, I'd expect the underside of the base to be engraved with their logo. It's possible that it's a pirated casting, though, of which there are many, but it does look like it's the I/R sculpt, in any case. Mike will have to let us know if there is any marking.

N&B appears to be a collector's blog to showcase his painting work, but I didn't see that he has made any original figures. I'll have to browse a little more deeply through that blog.

Prost!
