This is a delightful Ted Toy Set that I had Ted Deddens custom paint for me for my glossy Civil War Navy Collection.

"Piscataqua River Minstrels" 1862

A Union Navy band from Maine comprised of Ebben Coffin (fiddle), Moses Johnston (banjo), Nathaniel Wood (flute), Alonzo Simpson (concertina), Thad Foster (hornpipe dancer) and Belle (the Dalmation and ship's mascot). Minstrel bands were frequently found aboard Union ships during the Civil War as a means of entertainment or escape from the contingencies of war. These small bands could consist of white and/or African American crew members. Below the diorama is the 1862 photograph that inspired Ted to make the set. It was taken aboard the USS Wabash by Henry P. Moore, a photographer from Concord, New Hampshire.

Now that is cool Randy!! and again different from the norm. I think more makers should take a leaf from Ted's book.

Congratulations, Randy. Very nice choice.

I think you jumped the queue. Ted told me he is way behind with his painting ...
