This is my first post, so hello everyone :)

I just received a couple War of the Roses archers and they all have droopy bow strings. They're not nice and taught like I've seen in pictures. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if there is a recommended way for me to fix this? One of the strings seems to be barely hanging on by a thread...

I don't collect archers, but I used thread to rig models forty or fifty years ago. I had fits with the stuff in that it would invariably loosen and sag. This seemed to happen whether I handled the models or not. In retrospect, I believe that the model was expanding and contracting with seasonal changes in temperature and humidity. I'm not suggesting that's what caused the issue with your archers. However, it might well be that "the cause" is lost as far as keeping the string properly tensioned in any permanent sense. From time to time, you might want to release the twine and re-attach it, should the results suit you better. :)

Thanks for the response. I was also thinking its probably a heat issue making the bows change shape slightly... I think I've sort of solved the problem though. If I just give the bow a little bend the string straightens out a bit.

I am a bit concerned about the longevity of the strings. I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to get a bit of thread and restring them (famous last words ).

Jenkins metal seems to be a bit more rigid than some others, but I suppose that, in some instances, over-tensioning the thread could actually bend (and eventually weaken) the bow.:redface2: Superglue would be great for reattaching the thread, but the thread would EVENTUALLY let you down AGAIN. When it comes to threaded bow-strings on TS, I suspect that collectors just have live with a modicum of flaccidity.

Welcome to the forum, BTW!{sm3}

Welcome to the forum - I have a feeling that bowstrings may be an issue with all suppliers. I have a few of the archers and although they are not taut, they are far from flaccid

I'm with Humboldt...

I put a little bit of reverse tension on the bow...
both top and bottom segments to tighten the string...

be careful not to push enough to chip paint or worse yet...snap the bow...

it just takes a fraction of pressure on each end to tighten them up...
