Anyone in the US that uses a TV with an antenna should start looking into whether they need a converter box. After Feb. 17, you will no longer be able to receive over-the-air broadcasts on an analog TV without the converter box. Most people have cable, satellite or digital TVs and are not affected, but even so many people have extra TVs that may not be connected to those services. See www.dtv.gov

Please Combat, not on this Forum also! I,m so sick of one Channell here in St Louis that keeps running adds relative to the format change. It,s as bad as all those political commercials.
If you cannot afford cable or satelite TV, I really don,t think you would be a member of this board paying over $30 each for a toy soldier!

I'm with you, Gary. The thing that cheeses me is that the federal government is giving out $40 coupons for people who haven't upgraded to cable-ready monitors in the past 15 years to go out and do so.

A gentleman I work with suggested that since it was the FCC that mandated the change, he could see the justification for the subsidy, but I think that's a weak argument. Receiving television broadcasts isn't a right, unless that, too, is lurking in the various umbrae the Constitution might cast in certain kinds of light.

Next someone will say that everyone has a right to the latest K&C releases, too.

I really do ask myself more and more why I just don't quit my job and let someone else worry about it.

Thanks, britfarmer, you're right, that's not how my parents raised me ;)

You wanna be a man, you gotta take responsibility. You take the praise, when you earn it, but you take the blows, too, when you've earned them.

Prost!
