Hello!

I have been given the task to upload a collection of Ducal and Music in Miniature toy soldiers. I think there are about 150 of them. I have photogrpahed 2 big boxes so far and uploaded 22 of them.

I think a few of them may be labeled wrong so any help would be nice. I know nothing about these but I am learning a bit and quickly!

I must say I am enjoying photographing these soldiers! Never come across these before. They are quite fascinating!

Also, a nice happy story with the Queens' Own Hussars Drum Horse can be found in the questions at the bottom of the ebay page.

You can view the items using this link;

I am adding them as quick as I can but they are taking a little while!

Feel free to correct my errors! :)

Best regards

Melvin

Looking through the boxes containing Fort Ducal toy soldiers there seems to be a whole set of Trooping The Colour from M01 to M33.

As seen here..

Would it have been better to have listed these all together as a complete set or as I have done individually?

Melvin

Personally I think you will make more selling them separately. I may have a stab at a couple of them, but I don't need them all :)

Are these actually Tradition figures? I say that, because the horse and its base look very much like those from sets I have bought from Tradition (eg, the Gardes du Corps and Dragoner kettledrummers). Was Music in Miniature a repainters outfit, that is, they didn't produce their own castings, but painted commercially available figures?

Prost!

Interesting point there Brad. They also bear some resemblance to figures on the BMSS site also.

Fleurbaix Toy Soldiers state that they have purchased all their masters and moulds and plan to recreate them. So it doesn't look like they just painted.

Music in Miniature were not repainters, they produced their own range of figures. The figures in question look like Tradition and BMSS because they were all sculpted by the same person, Alan Caton, who uses the same base for most, but not all, of his mounted pieces.

Thanks, trooper, that explains that one!

Just as a note…according to Tradition of London Alan Caton is the sculptor of the very fine figures that I am painting for Konrad on the Napoleonic Spoils of War thread on the painting section of the forum.

We are Fleurbaix Toy Soldiers and certainly trooper and greenbuz were very right! Music in Miniature cast and painted all there own figures and we have the moulds, the masters and rights for these figures. Many of the British toy soldier comanpies and some of the Australian companies owe there wonderful figures to the Master Scuplter Alan Caton - we are pleased to say that all new figures from Fleurbaix the masters are made by Alan Caton and we honoured to have him create some wonderful things to come! We are in the final stages of making a American Cilvil war balloon with Dave Love of Mountford making the master balloon and Alan Caton making the master figures! So if you need any Music in Miniature items from US Indian Wars thru many other eras of wars and mnay wonderful bands and drum horses we have them all and they may even be cheaper than ebay! Our website is www.fleurbaixtoysoldiers.com.au
Thanks for reading Fr Greg.
