Do you like 100s of Cowboys? Do you like 100s of US Cavalry?

Duel in the Sun (1946)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038499/

Great scene of the Ranch owner Lionel Barrymore calling out all of his hands to stop the railroad. 100s of cowboys gather and ride to great music. They line up along a fence line with the RR crew on the other side. Before the fight can start, the US Cavalry arrives, wheels in, and lines the fence opposing the cowboys. Barrymore quietly looks at the US colors, says: "I once fought for that flag, I'll not fire on it now."

Wow!

Reminds me of "Barbara Frietchie":

"Dame Barbara snatched the silken scarf.

She leaned far out on the window-sill,
And shook it forth with a royal will.
'Shoot, if you must, this old gray head,
But spare your country's flag,' she said."
