Can anyone tell if Britains plan to remake the Zulu War and Dehli Durbar Series, in gloss? Those are wonders I'd like to pursue.

Paulo

Hi Paulo,

I havent heard anything about Britains revisiting either series right now. Although I wish that they would for the Durbar. I have a now nearly complete display for the Durbar and will tell you it is a thing of beauty! I posted some pictures here under the Durbar Display so take a look at them. As for the Zulu War they have done a lot of great sets for that series in the past few years so I hope they do some more there too. You might want to ask the Britains rep Richard Walker who does peruse this forum if these are possibilities. It would be great but I imagine it will be a ways down the road so if you can you should grab up the sets you find on the secondary market or left over at dealers.

Best of luck.

Dave

Hi Dave,
Many thanks. I'll try and follow your advice. I am not sure these series are great sellers, especially in America, which might not help our cause, but to me they are really things of beauty. Certainly there is a market niche for these themes in gloss, and Beau Geste, Tradition and others exploit it very well.

Regards,
Paulo

Hi Paulo,

I dont know how well the Durbar series was received here in the US exception being me and some others on this site but I know the Zulu sets go quickly. I would also look at Marlborough who has a very wonderful Durbar series and is like Beau Geste still adding to it. They (Marlborough) are usually available of good prices on ebay if there isnt a bidding war and I am adding them to my collection to fill out the display.

Durbar is not on the list for this year. It is a great, colorful series that I want to revisit in the near future.

Richard,

What about the Zulu line? Since I have collected this series in the past, I would be very interested in seeing this line produced again.

Warm regards,

Pat

Hi Pat:

I am looking at some Zulu War options right now - the $64,000 question - does the world really need more Rorkes Drift/Isandhlwana? Or is it time to get outside the box to Hlobane, Ulundi, Khambula - do some 91st, 60th Rifles, 13th, etc.???? Or do you want more Rorkes and Isandhlwana - new things that have not been done yet??

Look forward to feedback,

Richard

Hi Richard,

How about the 60th Rifles and maybe a square from the battle of Ulundi with the Gattling guns and the 17th Lancers. Also some personalities like Lord Chelmsford and his staff and maybe Cetshwayo being escorted to captivity. Of course a vignette of the Prince Imperial Louis Napoleon being taken out by a group of Zulu Warriors would be of interest to me.

Hi Richard,

That is a tough question. I already have Frontline Figures and Imperial's Rorke's Drift; I also have Trophy's Isandhlwana and Ulundi. I am not likely to buy more, but some of the other units and battles would be interesting. But is there a big enough market for them that it would make it worthwhile for you to do them?

P.S. Hope you are enjoying your Imperial Zulu War sets.

Love them - Thank you so much Mike! Pleasure to talk with you at the show.

I like Dave's idea about the Prince Imperial Vignette.

Richard: I would like to see some traditional British- Sudan era figures. Bring back highlanders kneeling, standing and prone firing guys with officers and naval gun teams like Nordenfelt gun or maxims. Fuzzy infantry, Sudan soldiers and camel guys. Maybe even a gunboat- but I know that is a slim chance. These guys could be used against Boers also. Leadmen
