Hi guys,
For those who don't receive my newsletter, I had to announce the retirement of 2 Durbar elephants because the molds are terribly damaged by now, and can't produce any more castings. You know I don't like to retire sets, specially Durbar, because there are always new collectors discovering the subject, anxious to begin collecting this beautiful line.
The sad part of this policy is that the molds keep on being used until they break, and that this usually happens suddenly. That day, the elephant (or set) cannot be produced any more, because the cost of re-molding is not worth it just to sell an (uncertain) small number of pieces.
This is the case of two of our elephants: The Patiala (made in 2000) and the Narsinhgarh (made in 2001) ones. Here are the pictures:
Elephant of Patiala (set #87)
Elephant of Narsinhgarh (set #100)
Many concerned collectors emailed me asking about the future elephants to be retired. I honestly can't say. But the logic says that the oldest molds are the most damaged ones. The molds of the Elephant of Sikkim (set #142) are in pretty bad shape, that I can say. The following one, the Alwar Elephant's ones (set #190) seem to be fine for now, not sure for how long though.
Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any comments or questions.
Thanks for your constant support,
Ana
