Early K&C Glossy at Old Toy Soldier Auctions (1 Viewer)

Norman,

I took a look at the forthcoming auction and I see some very nice sets. I didn't know the Highlanders ever came in square bases but since you consulted Louis and K & C I'm sure they must be.

They look to be a little too expensive for my taste however.

Best of luck.

Regards,

Regards,

I just had a look at the auction. The mounted officer in lot 493 or 593 is not K&C. The entire lot 494 or 594 is not K&C. The standing officer with the flag in lot 495 or 595 is not K&C.

My one question is reference this auction are any of the figures in lots 593 thru 599 k&c or are they early trophy or whatever?

I thought I would post this subject again. Reference the Glossy Cameroon khaki Highlanders that were recently sold at auction,I acquired most of them, and I like them, but apparently their not K&C. I thought that K&C way back when might have done a Special order for 'Under Two Flags",but according to Andy NOT so.The size of the figures is also slightly smaller than other genuine K&C Khaki Cameroons that I have in my collection. Some have suggested early Trophy? Looking thru the Trophy thread I don`t see any figures that have base`s similar to these figures. Of course many of my new acquistion are kneeling to repel Cavalry and have no base. The scale suggests maybe early "Queens Men". Does anybody have any thoughts on this subject?

Hi Bill,

Can you post some photos? I took a look at the website shots and would like to see some close ups. I have a thought on who they are by but will need to look them over again

Dave

Great! I look forward to seeing the photos. Did you get all of the sets available in that auction? They made for a nice complete display if you did. Talk to you soon

Bill,

Louis had confirmed that 593, 594 & 595 are not K&C...so the only question now is if 596-599 are K&C

My information is incorrect and one would need to re-read the post by Louis on 4/17...If possible maybe somebody can delete my post above because it is worthless info/help.

From the photos, I was able to definitively state that certain of the figures were not K&C. I was unable to confirm or deny that the remainder were K&C, as early K&C were often very similar to figures produced by other metal and plastic toy soldier manufacturers. For example the early K&C Seaforth Highlanders were often in the exact same poses as early Trophy highlanders, and early K&C Waffen SS were strikingly similar in poses to the plastic 1:32 scale Afrika Corps figures produced by Airfix.
