Hi all

I'm new to the forum but I've been a K&C collector since 1999. Hello to all!

How about some early WW1 in winter clothing - germans in great coats, British in sheepskins, maybe even a football vignette? I though the xmas truce 2007 set was excellent but needs some company.......

I'm with you Jamo..i thought also to some Kitchener's volunteeres in civilian or partial military outfit ..it could be a great scene..thse volunteers waiting outside the recruitment office or maybe exercising with the bayonet..it's a great part in the iconography of WWI

Hey cantinetozzo, what a great idea - some patriotic youths in line for the recruiting officer? 'Wargame' by Michael Foreman was a book and short animated film that showed just this - boys all from the same football team enlisting. Later in the story, the brothers and friends from the football team play against the Germans in 'No Man's Land' on Christmas day 1914. It's for children, but a brilliant book / film to show kids what happened in WW1 - both my lads enjoyed it.....

There - that's series one and two sorted already!

Let's hope Andy reads this eh?

Yes,

its a great idea, more WW1 figures for the commencement of the war, in particular the winter, and it could be expanded to include the football match that was played on Boxing Day, I hope.

Toy Army Workshop did make a set of 7 figures depicting the 1914 truce, but the moulds were sold to Fleurbaix Toy Soldiers who have them show on a .PDF catalog page here http://www.fleurbaixtoysoldiers.com.au/pdfs/taw_product_guide_p28-38.pdf and show as a vignette on a snow covered base as well.

A recent movie showed this incident, Joyeux Noël, with all the horrors of the trench war, with characters from the French, British and German sides showing the craziness of this war. Its well worth seeing, as its uniforms deatils are very accurate for the 1914 period.... fancy the French fighting in red trosers and kepis!!!

regards,

John

Winter, 1914, figures would be a welcome addition to a collection and a great tangible link to the book & the film cited by other Forum contributers. There is a special poignancy about that period, and a particular innocence, when you think about all the horrors yet to come. The K & C Christmas Truce figures open the doors to all kinds of possibilities.

Hopefully, if this WW1 range becomes as expansive as the WW2 range (and I predict that it will), we will definately be seeing some winter figures in the future.
