So what is the story with these guys? I seem to notice a divergence of popularity between wargamers and toy soldier collectors. Am I correct that the Russian collection- Fall of Berlin (since 2000) only exists of 15 pieces? I know the earlier WS series had every figure redone in snow colors to match the Eastern front. I think back then -2000, 2001, had like 18 or so sets for the Germans and 4 or 5 sets for the Russians.

My observation is that it seems like military wargamers devour eastern front material while toy collectors seem kind of cold (no pun intended) to the Eastern Front- at least towards the Russians-

any thoughts here?

It seems like this could be a sleeper line for someone to complete. Including the Katyusha, only half the sets are retired.

You're correct in your summation at least far as collectors go. These just haven't sold and from what I've heard the interest in the new captured T34 isn't actually setting the world on fire either.

I'm looking forward to the new German T34. The Eastern Front has been long neglected, but I'm sure KC or HB will get around to it. Too many possibilities and too much history to pass on forever. We still need that JS2 for starters. :)

Chris,
Your comments are 100% dead on accurate. Being that I sell both 15mm and 20mm wargaming figures, vehicles and buildings as well as toy soldiers, my wargaming customers can't get enough of the Eastern Front stuff, while the majority of the toy soldier customers just do not seem interested in the Eastern Front.

The wargaming appeal is a no brainer; huge open spaces which lend themselves to large tank battles such as Kursk. One of my wargaming customers is putting on a 15mm FOW game at Historicon and the terrain is going to be 48 feet by 6 feet, just massive in scope and scale. I am sure you will be there, I'll let you know where the game will be staged............................

Hey George

That must be a massive table!! I know some of those guys, when you go through the front entrance of the hotel, kind of up that one flight of stairs to the left, they have some pretty big tables and battles in there. I think someone did a huge Kursk battle last year. Yeah, if you think about it, let me know.
