Edward Ryan, a retired CIA station chief who amassed one of the largest collections of paper toy soldiers in the United States, died August 29, 2009, of natural causes, at his home in Chevy Chase, Maryland, he was 90.
A prolific writer on the subject of Paper Soldiers, Mr. Ryan wrote many articles on paper soldiers. In 1995 he published a massive book on the subject, “Paper Soldiers: The Illustrated History of Printed Paper Armies of the 18th, 19th & 20th Centuries.”
