El Alamein (1 Viewer)

Interesting that you should mention El Alamein. Recently one high profile veteran died:

Not a pleasant chap from my perspective, as many obituaries breathlessly and unquestioningly recall his "distinguished" service in Malaya and Kenya in the suppressing various rebellions in the late 1940s and 1950s, but he was there at El Alamein and served with distinction there.
 
Well as you know the Britsih actions in Kenya were pretty rough. Probably the same as the actions in Ireland prior to the civil war.
A lot of these men were soldiers who really had no idea about how to deal with legitimate civilian dissent. If you send highly trained and efficient paratroopers to control a march by civil liberties campaigners then you are just asking for a disaster.
