This is a 1983 Spanish movie about a young woman who recalls her childhood growing up in the North of Spain. She follows a fairly normal life until she discovers that her father, who is from the South of Spain, still pines for a former love, who is a movie actress, although her career is short lived. Her view of him is forever changed and he becomes mysterious. He then invites her to lunch where have a serious talk in which she asks him about his former love and he tries to avoid the issue. He wants her to spend the afternoon with him, skipping school, but she declines. It is the last time she ever sees him as he commits suicide.

As the movie ends, she gets ready to visit her Aunt and Grandfather in the South, a visit she is anxiously looking forward to so she can find out about her Father's past.

A very touching movie.
