Having two young grandchildren, I frequent toys stores. Have often looked at the plastic animals selling at a reasonable price and wondered if any of them would fit with my late 19th and early 20th Century troops. The only possibilities seem to be the elephants and was wondering if anyone made 54mm native drivers. Can anyone offer a suggestion or two?

Thanks . . .

Marlborough sold individual figures when you were trying to replace a figure. Although I am not sure if they are still operating.

Tradition will break up a set for pieces - if you ask. I bought two Elephants plus two Mahouts - and the Gun separate from the crew a few years back. I used Dorset figures for the crew etc. Here's a pic below - which doesn't show the Ele's connected to the gun - but gives a good idea of what all the bits look like. jb

I found a rather fierce African bull at a michaels,,with a 50 % off yet,,more then fine with a dullcoat and as much added detail as I wish,,about a scale 1 .5 feet high at the shoulder,,_a big bull,,a bargain compared to soviet costs,,
