Hi All,
A part of my collection is dedicated to elephants.
I really love these little animals. Especially the non durbar ones : elephant battery or 'working' elephants.
I've started an album on that subject but I'd like to get information on all such sets produced by various makers.
In addition to the pictures in the album, I will try to upload soon some other Under Two Flags sets, a Marlborough set and another William Hocker.
I also know about the Tradition set (still missing in my collection)...
Are there any others out there ?

Thanks for your help
Michel

Michel,

These are made by Fusilier Miniatures and painted by myself a while ago and the last one is another set as per first but painted slightly different as a how-to painting project on this forum and is now in the collection of one of the forum members.

Nice sets Jeff.
Personally I prefer the second one. But it may be just a question of pictures.

Hi Michel just looking at your elephant collection, which reminded me last September I visited the Guards Toy Soldier Shop in London which is ran by Lyn Kenwood of MKL. In one of the many display cabinets I saw a fantastic Indian Army elephant with crew clearing a tree stump to make a road. The manufacturer was King cast who are now out of business, but this was up for sale at the shop. they do have a web site but I know that a lot of stuff for sale in the shop is not on the site.
Regards John

Michel,
Have you seen the elephant with limber & gun from Mountford Miniatures? They are kits but you can also buy them painted (I believe)Like John just stated, Kingcast is outstanding, but rare to find. I take it you are a GLOOOOSSSSSSSY guy too?;):) Mike

Hi Michel,
one special elephant set I purchased in London, KLM (Guards toy soldier shop). It is very rare and shows some black watch soldiers and two elephants (made by king cast).A picture of this set you can find looking my albums. Today I ordered another elephant battery :D (made by ALYMER from Spain). I will post a picture later. It is a set with limber and gun, like the TRADITION set.
But your elephant collection is the best I have ever seen:eek::D:eek::D
Cheers Marcus

The Schleich elephants are a pretty good size for soldiering! I have thought of using them to make up some of the great sets you have there. I looked at your albums. Very nice.

Hi Michel, now I purchased the elephant battery of ALYMER from Spain.
I have added 2 pics in my album HADRIANSVILLA. (sorry - was not able to post the pics here:rolleyes:)
What do you think about it ?
I was disappointed, :( it was shipped very expensive and arrived even with broken limber. The colour of the elephants is not realistic and the soldiers are painted with not much details.
Marcus

Any of you got the Somerset Ltd. elephants? I have seen them and they are great. Do not own any because of cost but I would if I could. -- lancer

Hi Marcus,
Thanks for posting the pictures. From them they look nice even if I agree the colour is quite different from the usual grey we are used to.
When you found other ones, please let me know.

I had a look at their web site .
Are they as good as they seems to look on the very small pictures .
Michel

Mardasson -- In my opinion, these are the best on the market but they are beyond my price range. Everything Somerset does is top notch. I have some of the Indian lancers and camel troops and they are the best gloss figures I own. -- lancer
