I received an email from eBay asking not to support the tax allowing government a piece of the sales pie. Well, a part of me wants to take the government side and allow the taxation...I feel eBay is asking me to help them so their business can flourish

I assume eBay was talking about state sales taxes applying to eBay sales, is that correct?

That is correct...I catagorize state and government all the same!

As online business owner I am against it. Why should I be responsible to collect state taxes for states I don't live in. That's why they're is a line on your state income tax form to pay taxes on out of state purchases.

And what about the eBay seller who is only selling items to clean out their closet. Isn't that a double tax since they were taxed on the income to buy the item, and sales tax when it was purchased ?
