The Doctor who helped to develop the treatment for childhood leukemia has died at the age of 93. Before the 1960s that disease was nearly 100% fatal for any child. Today, the survival rate is around 90%. A miracle of modern medicine that is near and dear to my heart after my own daughter was diagnosed with leukemia a couple years ago at the age of 13.
