August 1914 - the feared Hun have crossed the borders of neutral Belgium to get at the French and put a dagger through the heart of Paris. The King of Belgium's 'chocolate box' army is in disarray. Communications are down but everywhere there are sketchy reports of a fast moving German offensive that is meeting little in the way of organised resistance. There are also early reports of atrocities being committed by German troops in villages and small towns in the eastern part of the country.

You have been ordered by your commanding officer to take a patrol out to a local fortified chateau where there is a river crossing. Your instructions are to hold the bridge at all costs until relieving troops can support your position. You must hold the German advance here to enable civilians to get away and for Belgium forces to muster and stiffen their defence. Then you spy a massed ranks of grey clad infantry marching through the fields toward your position. First contact!

With thanks to Empire Military Miniatures for sending Belgium WW1 reinforcements across to New Zealand to let me set up this diorama. I think I am gonna need the Belgium machine gun to cover the bridge and the BEF is on the way

Enjoy

Gary!

Those are wonderfully done and unique figures. Surprised that the Belgian Army has not been done before.
