Excellent game, what a great goal off that corner kick! Who does Portugal play next?

The Czech Republic. I guess things will start to get rougher and rougher, but for everybody, not just for Portugal. By the way, the goal off the corner kick was unfortunately disallowed:(, but 2 more came in the second half, so all ended well.

Man I've got to stop watching sports shows at these resort bars:eek:. What was the call, offsides? At any rate, it sure was a sweet shot, too bad it was disallowed. Unfortunately here in the US soccer coverage is somewhat spoty and marginal to say the least:( so I'll probably have to settle for picking up bits & pieces here and there:mad:. Good luck against Czecks:).

I hope Portugal do well and win Euro 2008. They came so far in 2004.

What a big surprise yesterday…..Italia 0 X 3 Holland, I bet that Italy will pass easily against the Mechanical Orange, but it wasn’t the case….Goleada….:D

The two European teams I support are England and Portugal (England on my father's side and Portuguese on my Mother's side). But I still do not understand how a team (England) with so many wonderful players (Rooney, Lampard etc ) just cannot put it together. Hopefully they will win the 2010 World Cup.

A comment like that might get you strung up in your home country as the 2010 WC is in South Africa.

Unfortunatley SA is pretty weak at football. If we make it to the second round that will be great. Maybe it will be SA vs England in the final.

As my beloved England didn't make it through(less said the better)i thought i'd support my Grandfathers team whose national dish i adore,so Italy get thumped three nil by Holland!.I can't win here!!:(

Damian I am sorry but I don't want to discourage you....As we are here, amateurs of history and futebol, history always follow the rules...So, for the 2010 World Cup it will be not an exception, Brasil will win again...

Brasil is the only team that participated in every cups since 1930, we won in every continent, European soil in 1958, America 1962, 1970 and 1994 and in Asia 2002, so if history is constancy we will win in Africa for the 6th title and the supremacy of the sport.

Didn't the Italians get off to a shaky start in the World Cup as well two years ago, yet they won it in the end?

As always...in 1994 they had a terrible start but they reached the final, and the worth case was in 1982, they almost missed the first round against Cameroun, and the butcher Paolo Rossi did magic against Brasil and Germany in the final.

It is the Italian way, they play a defensive and ugly futebol but they managed to win in the end.

Cheers

Spain looks awesome at the break, up 2 nil. However, they've been a little shaky defensively and the Russians have been very unlucky not to score as well.
