Hi all, Season's Greetings.

You'd think with the snow around the country, it would be time to break out the Battle of the Bulge sets, but I'm choosing to go with some warmer weather by displaying everyone's favorite Desert Village, a few pieces from K&C.

Yep, that's the new Adler for those of you who may have missed it, but this scene only pictures one Rommel. Minus the palms which have been photo edited out, here it is as seen on my tabletop:

Summer where I am, so perfect scene. No question the Adler is a nice piece of kit. Robin.

Pretty warm here as well or should I say bloody hot! Very nice Rob and I reckon that new beaut Adler is going to get a workout on dio scenes on here!

Rob; very nice overview of your excellent DAK diorama; well worth expanding. You need some artillery, a Flak 36 in the courtyard would be impressive to go with your artillery observer.

I do not understand why K&C decided to paint the suspension belts for the DAK uniforms white rather than brown or black; are you going to repaint them? I just finished painting my AK030 Panzer II Panzer Kommanders pants sand from the rather bright yellow he came in. I am planning to purchase the AK022 morter set; but I am not looking forward the repainting the belts, tedious at best!

Thanks Robin; send some heat our way.

Appreciate your comments Tom.

Hi Katana - thanks. I've got some "big guns" - perhaps I'll place one in this scene from your suggestion. No plan to paint any of my figures. I'm a bit of a traditionalist or conservative when it comes to my K&C.

W/O, Great looking setup, snow or no snow
Thanks Wayne - always appreciate your comments.

Rob; you always compliment your commenters, how very nice!

I understand your reason for not altering your K&C figures as you probably consider them art objects. I consider mine to be models and I repaint them if it improves their historic accuracy. I believe K&C did the white belts to distinguish their figures from TG and TCS; which use black and brown belts respectivly. Also the oversize weapons distinguish K&C from other Toy Soldiers.

Hi Guys,

Congratulations “Western Outlaw” (Rob) on your little walled outpost with AK figures and vehicles ... A very good use of different elements from “AK” ... “LOJ” ... and a couple of our scenic items.

Sorry “Katana”, but those white belts’ you mention in your response are not ‘white’ but sun-bleached khaki webbing which was widely used by the Afrika Korps in the desert, in addition of course, to the usual black “Y” strap leather belts and straps.

British ‘webbing equipment’ used by the 8th Army also suffered the same ‘sun-bleaching’ effects from sun and sand as the AK webbing.
Hope this helps.

Best wishes and Merry Christmas,
Andy
