A lot has been talked about the magnificent charge of the 4th and 12th Light Horse Regiments at Beersheba on its 100th Anniversary today. The courage of the Kiwis who attacked the Tel el Saba mountain fortifications overlooking the plains on which the charge took place. The great accuracy of the British Notts Battery that took out the machine gun emplacements in Turkish trenches defending Beersheba.
But it has never until today been explained why the young fit Light Horse men rode so fiercely towards the Town and fought so bravely.
Some say it was because their horses needed water after a two day ride without water to get to the Town!!!!!
Some say it was because they were very patriotic for "King & Country"!!!!!^&grin
Some say it was because they were just following orders!!!!!
BUT now the true comes out. They rode to the Town of Beersheba because their Troop Sergeants got the orders wrong and told them they were riding towards "Beer & Sheilas" {sm4} Beersheba
Cheers Howard:salute::
PS Its always good to enjoy a Pint after a good laugh
