Flipping channels this AM, came across The Devil's Brigade, currently in progress, on the MGM channel. Checked the rest of the line-up and got blown away by the outstanding movies to run today. All times EST.
11:10 AM - Run Silent, Run Deep
1:00 PM - Richard III (the excellent Ian McKellen version)
3:05 PM - Pork Chop Hill
5:00 PM - The Battle of Britain
7:30 PM - The Train
10:00 PM - Bridge at Remagen
Been a long time since I have seen a list like this, all in a row. Guess how I plan to stay warm and entertained today?:wink2:^&grin -- Al

Ended up being a successful day as the hidden Japanese sub got sunk, no horse showed up for Rickie, we took Pork Chop, Spits saved Britain, the paintings were saved, and the bridge got crossed. Yes, it was a fine day.^&grin -- Al

Yay! Freedom reigns. When I was kid, Porkchop Hill was one of my favorite shows. Nonstop, beginning to end fighting. On another note, what I loved about those old movies was how the soldier's weapons and gear would clang around while there're moving. You know, canteens and such.

Pork Chop Hill still ranks as one of my Top 5 War Movies. You are quite right, exciting action and interesting characters from beginning to end. Very good detail of uniforms, equipment, and especially the weapons. And what a great cast it had. Lewis Milestone knew how to make a war picture. He also did another of my Top 5, All Quiet on the Western Front. -- Al
