Fantasy figure repaint (1 Viewer)

I found a Dragon at the games this week end. Problem Dragon was green and Silver Gf likes Red Dragons. No Red Dragons. Soooooo repaint time! It is a departure from what I usually do but what the heck! Time to stretch boundaries I quess.

Speaking of fantasy figures, I have recently seen auctions on eBay for this figure and others, by the same vendor:

It made me think about how they would look stripped-no pun intended-and repainted to a higher standard than the dealer has. According to his site, he is a jeweler, so the figures are a sidelight to his main thrust (again, no pun intended). But the figures look like they might be decent castings, just a bit pricey at $39.

The idea of adding a fantasy thread is a good one, it certainly can help attract even more collectors to the forum.

They are pricey. Noticed one could deduct $10.00 for unpainted. Making them very expensive castings. Some of the other ones were even more. They could be painted better of course but they are only as good as the casting. Some of the fogures had removeable breast plates?

lol, yes, the breastplate is noted in his descriptions.

I suspect that the sculpts are not original to the dealer, though I think the descriptions can lead one to think that they are. I think they might be from commercially-available silicon rubber molds.

Of course, if you want to paint female fantasy figures, the discounted price isn't too bad, when we look at how much Phoenix Follies or Mascot Models castings go for new, let alone their price in the secondary market. Anime resin kits usually start around $40, too.

Hmm...we might have to add an adults-only section, if the fantasy idea takes off (no pun intended). A Treefrog Treasures-After Dark. Hey now!

I have been. Unfortunately , my clan tartan is overly complicated. I have worked the bugs out and will continue soon. I am going to do a McNaughton tartan for a friend once I get this worked out.

A fantasy thread might well be a good idea Jeff. I've seen some magnificent paint jobs in White Dwarf magazine over the years. Might be objections from the more traditional (conservative) members here, but I for one would welcome a break from the incessant rumbles of the "green tank rivet counters".
There was a brilliant "Viking" (although he wasn't) figure posted in the Connoisseur thread recently that looked extremely well done.

PS. That's a sharp likeness of the M-I-L on a GOOD DAY..!!!
No doubt she'll retaliate by posting a disclaimer and make reference to some short, baldy, but otherwise hirsute Scottish son-in-law.
