Hey guys:

I just wanted to take a moment and share with you what are my two most favorite pieces of military art- aside from my toy soldier collection of course. I think we can all agree that military artwork has just become so much better over the last several years. Anyway, here are my two top favorites:

The Dying Galatea (Gaul)- of course, he isn't a newcomer to the scene- he has been around for sometime now :)

Simply the best!!

"He Returns Victorious" by John Buxton- For some reason, after a hard day of work, I always picture myself in this beautiful frame as I return home. But, alas, the wife and kids and hardly even the dog notice I am home :)

Let me know which ones are your favorites!!

anything by buxton, but my 2 favorite military artists are griffing and wright... nobody does the 18th century like them....

Tough to say. I am a fan of Don Troiani, but there are many others I like aswell.

Without a doubt my favorite has to be "He Returns Victorious" by Buxton. I have always loved that one. I also like many of Mort Kunstler's work and Geoff Hunt when it comes to the maritime art.

Rocco, Troianni, Gallon, and Kunstler. Not in any real order. Just bought Soldiers View. An ACW Rocco book :)

For my birthday and for Christmas I got 2 prints by Nicolas Trundgian, "Advance into Europe" and "Into the Cloak of Darkness".
Great P-47 Thunderbolt art signed by Aces Conger, Gabreski, Strait and Zemke.
"Into the cloak of Darkness" features a BF-110 and HE-219 Owl nightfighters signed by 2 german aces. Am having them custom framed for my "War Room".

I seem to prefer John Paul Strain over Kunstler and Troiani.

Just my opinion of course.....but I think Lady Butler created some of the most evocative paintings during the 1800's.
Best Regards
H

I have both Trioni and Lady Butler displayed in my toy soldier display room as well as Steven Dews who as far am Iam concerned is the best maritime Artisit ever.

Got to meet 4 members of the Band of Brothers at the Reading Air Show... all I could do was shake their hands and say thank you

Hi Guys,

I have a few different prints from Keith Rocco, Don Stivers and Dale Gallon. I also have some Durbar prints from the Menpes Book. As well as lithos from Ogdens uniform guide for the US Army from the 1880s. I have posted these before but will do so again. Enjoy.

All the best

Dave
